NEOM

NEOM's value to a schedule is compression: granite mountains, open desert and turquoise coast are close enough to shoot in the same week without a company move.

Crew working a wide desert valley framed by high rock walls

Terrain

  • Sharp granite and sandstone mountains rising to around 2,500m, with deep wadis cutting through them.
  • Gulf of Aqaba coastline — clear water, reef edges close to shore and mountain backdrops directly behind the beach.
  • Open desert plains and wind-scoured rock fields between the ranges.
  • Purpose-built production infrastructure, including studio facilities and crew accommodation.
  • Very low light pollution inland, which makes night exteriors and astro work genuinely viable.

Access & permits

  • NEOM operates its own permitting and access process alongside national approval. Engage early — this is a managed development, not open country.
  • NEOM Bay Airport (NUM) serves the region; larger equipment consignments generally route through Tabuk or Jeddah.
  • Some areas are active construction zones with restrictions that change month to month. Recce findings age quickly here; re-confirm access close to the shoot.
  • Marine and coastal filming needs separate maritime clearance, and drone work over water has its own conditions.
  • Fuel, water and medical cover need planning for the inland mountain locations, which are genuinely remote.
